Renaming Worksheets

In a new Excel file, one worksheet is created by default and named Sheet1. As mentioned in my previous post, it is good practise to rename worksheets to something more useful.

While keeping the name Sheet1 is ok if it is the only worksheet in the workbook, once there are several worksheets in a workbook, renaming the worksheets starts to be important. This will help you (and others, if the file is used by several people) to navigate the file more easily and quickly find what you are looking for. Here is how to rename worksheets:

Step 1

Navigate down to the sheet tab bar at the bottom of your screen.

Step 2

Double Click on the name of the sheet you want to rename. This will highlight the name and change your mouse curser.

Step 3

Then type in the new name you.

Step 4

Once done, press enter. The sheet tab will no longer be highlighted and your mouse courser goes back to normal.
